Business owners in Dereham are being offered the chance to improve the security of their premises following a spate of burglaries in the town recently.
Five business premises in the area have been broken into since the beginning of June and police want to raise awareness of this to business owners and help them to take action to combat the issue.
Police encourage business owners to regularly review their security arrangements and to try and deter further offences, businesses are being offered the chance to have a free crime reduction survey of their premises.
PC Richard Carlston, Crime Reduction Officer and Architectural Liaison Officer for Breckland, said: “Many burglaries could be prevented by implementing some simple improvements to the security of a premises.
“These do not necessarily have to be prohibitively expensive and can often be as simple as upgrading locks, bars and bolts or by installing an alarm system.
“I would encourage business owners to take-up this offer as it is a great opportunity to have an expert survey their property and help prevent themselves from becoming a victim of crime.
Any business owners in the Dereham area who are interested in having their premises surveyed are asked to contact PC Carlston at Dereham Police Station on 101 or by emailing carlstonr@norfolk.pnn.police.uk1.
